Job description:

An Intermediate Technologist works alongside the project managers and/or architects to develop detailed, accurate, and eye-catching construction drawings and documents for all stages of project delivery. This position is responsible in coordinating and ensuring all aspects of the design has been detailed. An Intermediate Technologist is able to apply architectural concepts, building code and zoning requirements to develop architectural design documents. In addition, an Intermediate Technologist has a deep understanding of how to put together a set of construction documents that provides clarity to those who implement them.


  • Graduate from an accredited post-secondary Architectural Technologist program and/or professional diploma or degree in architecture.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Architectural Technologist in and engineering/design-based firm, ideally from within Canada.
  • Knowledge of architecture process and construction documentation production.
  • Strong working knowledge of project design process, programming, planning, resourceful detailing, specifications, and building systems.
  • Familiarity of construction materials, process and application to working drawings.
  • Experience with high-rise residential/mixed-use developments in Canada/USA/UK.
  • Familiarity with Contract Administration procedures.
  • Proficiency in understanding local building codes, specifications and building science issues.
  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, BIM360 an asset.


  • Ability to manage and lead a project with minimal supervision through various permit submissions and/or construction.
  • Compile information to incorporate in specifications.
  • Coordinate consultant teams and coordinate with client and consultant groups.
  • Attend meetings with clients and consultants as required for each project and document meeting minutes and project schedules which accurately reflect decisions and direction arising from a meeting.
  • Prepare design presentations for client approval. These presentations will contain a mix of drawings and 3D renderings.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
